Minister of Communication Awards Successful Women Entrepreneurs in Women ICT Excellence Contest

As a part of the MCIT women and ICT initiative, His Excellency Minister of Communication and Information Technology has handed Women ICT Excellence Awards, in a special ceremony organized by MCIT for supporting the Egyptian woman through empowering them via ICT. The ceremony was attended by Ms. Randa Abo Al Hassan, the Regional Director of the United Nations Office in Cairo, in addition to experts from international organizations, ICT companies, ministries and academic institutions.
In an earlier time, the Egyptian Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, under the auspices of TE who is committed to its social responsibility, has announced a contest for women innovation in ICT.
In line with SDG target 5, the Women ICT Excellence Award comes as a part of a series of initiatives and activities carried out by MCIT to support the Egyptian woman using ICT tools. The competition targets Egyptian women and girls in a number of sub-areas related to ICT development that contribute to a clear and tangible social and economic impact. The award aims at encouraging women and girls to innovate and supporting them financially based on the belief in their vast creative abilities.
The Women ICT Excellence Award includes two categories; individuals category and MSMEs category. A technical committee, comprised of MCIT and NCW as well as academic institutions, was formed to set up criteria and evaluate participants according to those criteria.
Eight participants, from both categories, succeeded to receive the award; as follows:

Individuals Category:
First award: Shared between two projects; TEFL Ship that aims at leveraging English skills of governmental employees and Archimaker Online Office, the first complete online engineering office in the Middle East.
Second award: Shared between Magy HMS for managing hospitals and patients records by innovative clinical techniques using ICT tools and Yoclean for recycling wastes.

MSMEs Category:
First award: Shared between Ideas Gym specialized in increasing children’s capabilities using robotic technologies and Purple Bureau mobile and electronic application for communicating with HR departments inside companies.
Second award: Shared between Zaatar application for children specialized in Arabic e-learning and Hommect for electronic home designing.
